The Best Facial Depuffing Exercises To Do At Home

How To Do A Facial Massage

First, select the product you want to use during your facial massage. A good serum is perfect for depuffing exercises because you can ensure those beneficial ingredients penetrate deeply into your skin. Apply a small nickel-sized amount to your fingertips and massage into your skin using circular motions. Start at the outer contours and move inward for about one minute.

Next, massage your cheeks. To find the hollows of your cheekbones, open your mouth slightly. Once you’ve found the spot, apply gentle pressure using your index and middle fingers and massage in upward motions. Lift, don’t pull — you’re trying to make your skin more plump and lifted.

The last portion involves your jawline. Use your fingers and thumbs to pinch along your jawline with firm pressure for a minute or two, continually squeezing and releasing. This technique dramatically increases lymphatic drainage, flushing out toxins, pollutants, and bacteria that accumulate in this area.

End your facial massage by tapping gently all along your skin with your fingertips, then go about your day or finish your skincare routine.

Tip: Try using a jade roller to boost your facial massage. It supports lymphatic drainage and helps reduce puffiness!

Other Depuffing Exercises You Can Do

The V Application Technique

This technique helps with drooping eyelids, crow’s feet, under-eye bags, and overall puffiness — a simple, natural alternative to procedures like Botox or eye surgery.

Press your two middle fingers together at the inner corners of your eyebrows, and simultaneously press both index fingers against the outer corners. Apply pressure, then look up toward the ceiling and raise your lower eyelids upward in a squint. Relax and repeat six times, then squeeze your eyes tightly shut for 10 seconds to finish.

The Smile Smoother Technique

This technique targets cheek lines and sagging facial skin, mimicking the effects of a lower face lift without procedures.

Make an ‘O’ shape with your mouth by covering your teeth with your lips, then smile widely while keeping your teeth hidden. Repeat six times. To finish, hold the smile shape, place your index finger on your chin, and slowly move your jaw up and down while gently tilting your head back. Relax and repeat two more times.

Smooth Your Brow Area

To naturally reduce horizontal forehead lines, place both hands on your forehead palm-side down and spread your fingers between your eyebrows and hairline. Sweep your fingers gently across your forehead while applying light pressure. Relax and repeat to help tighten skin and reduce forehead lines.

Face Priming Exercise

To firm your entire face, lie down and form a long oval shape with your mouth, folding your lips over your teeth. Smile to lift the corners of your mouth and draw your cheek muscles up. Press your palms against your cheeks with pinkies at the corner of each eye and fingers across your temples. Pull your fingers up toward the back of your head, close your eyes, and pull your chin forward. Hold for 20 seconds, then relax. Repeat three times.

The Cheek Lifter

This exercise lifts your cheeks and defines your upper lip by strengthening the muscles around your cheeks.

Open your mouth into a long oval, fold your upper lip over your front teeth, and smile to lift your cheek muscles. Place your index fingers lightly on top of those cheek muscles just under your eyes. Relax the muscles, then smile again to push them back up. Repeat 10 times. On the final rep, hold your cheek muscles as high as possible, move your index fingers up over your scalp, and hold for 20 seconds while looking up. Repeat three times.

With only a few basic steps, you can complete a facial massage quickly and easily on a regular basis. These depuffing exercises don’t take much time, and they’re genuinely relaxing once you get the hang of them — self-care and skincare go hand in hand!
